BOY’S VARSITY COACH

Olivia has a long history with Megunticook Rowing. Her rowing career began as a varsity rower and coxswain for Megunticook Rowing. She was recruited to be a coxswain for the Connecticut College Varsity Men’s crew, who she coxed for four years. While at Connecticut College, Olivia worked under head coach, Ric Ricci, where she was tasked with performance analysis, workout development, and collegiate coaching. During summer months, she coached Megunticook Rowing’s master rowers, and was the head sailing instructor for the Rockport Boat Club, where she was instrumental in the development of Rockport Boat Club’s sailing curriculum. Off the water, Olivia researched and implemented Megunticook Rowing’s first donor management system and administered the organization’s social media and marketing platforms. Olivia holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology and Finance.

DON SEALES MASTERS COACH

Don started sculling after college in the l970’s while engaged in boat building projects on classic rowing gigs. As Assistant Coach at Marist College, Don became more interested in coaching and rigging shells for competition. Building and repairing rowing shells also became a passion. He has competed in most of the New York State rowing regattas and all of the major Head Race regattas in Masters events, including the pair, four+,  eight+, singles, doubles, and quads. Don's personal motto is, “any boat, any seat, any time” Retiring to Maine from IBM, he enjoys rebuilding and restoring antique and state-of-the-art rowing shells - a growing fleet of over 25! Don continues to compete in Maine Masters Regattas. Don coaches in our master’s program. Don lives in Searsmont with his wife Ann.

WILL SCHAETZKE

GIRL’s VARSITY COACH

Will will be coaching the Varsity Girls team this spring, 2022. He was excited to join Megunticook Rowing [as a rower] before he even made the move to Maine. He comes to us with great ideas and ample enthusiasm for all aspects of rowing. Will was a competitive rower at Shrewsburt High School for six seasons where he competed in an 8+ in the Head of the Charles and the Henley Royal Regatta. He then attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst where he pursued a short rowing career with the Men’s Club team. Will was a Varsity Girls Assistant Coach at Greater Lawrence Rowing for three seasons. In 2021, Will moved to Hope with his family and joined the Megunticook Masters Rowing. Will is thrilled to join the Megunticook Rowing coaching staff in the Spring of 2022!


MEREDITH CURRIER

GIRL’S VARSITY COACH

Meredith started rowing at the William Howard Taft High School. She was then recruited to play D1 hockey for Princeton University. Realizing her rowing experience, the Princeton rowing coaches reached out to her and tried to bring her onto the team, but she was committed to hockey. Fast forward less than a year, Meredith decided to stop playing hockey and reached out to the rowing team, but they had already set their lineups. She then joined the rugby team and continued playing until the end of her college career. Meredith has extensive experience coaching as she has also coached hockey and rugby. Meredith is also one of the founders of Megunticook Rowing from back in 2008 with Ry Hills. Her passion for rowing is contagious and she brings so much to MegRow. You will catch her rowing in any boat no matter the time of day or weather. 


MAGGIE GILL CLUB ROWING COACH

Maggie Gill is currently a student at Camden Hills Regional High School. She spent her childhood swimming, sailing, and paddle boarding, and was first introduced to rowing in fall 2019. After one season with the novice team, Maggie fell in love with the sport. She spent the next 6 spring and fall seasons on the varsity team, along with summer rowing and winter training. Maggie loves the dedication of her teammates and the rowing community, and is looking forward to helping Megunticook Rowing grow!


DOMINIC PICONI

CLUB ROWING COACH

Dominic Piconi joined Megunticook Rowing in 2018 when he and his family moved from San Diego to Camden, Maine. He quickly fell in love with the sport, and was called up to row for the Varsity Boys team. Since then Dominic has rowed in many races for the boys team as their stroke. He has competed in numerous regattas throughout New England and New York. With Dominic in the stroke seat, the 2021 Men’s Jr 4x placed in the 5th at the New Hampshire Championships, and the Textile Regatta, and an impressive 16th at the Head of the Fish. 

During the off season Dominic is a PSIA Level I ski instructor at the Camden Snowbowl. Dominic is very excited to join the Megunticook Rowing Coaching staff and cannot wait to share his love of the sport with youth and adults alike.


Ryan Boutote SUMMER COACH

 Ryan started rowing at Rutgers University in Camden, NJ, winning multiple Division III Varsity 4 events. After college he rowed for the College Boat Club on the Schuylkill River, competing in various regattas including multiple showings at the Head of the Charles. He started coaching the boy’s freshman 8 at Bishop Eustace Prep on the Cooper River under the tutelage of John Hartigan. Later he coached the JV and Varsity boys at Haddonfield High School NJ where his team won multiple first place finishes in various regattas including the Philadelphia City Championships, and a 4thplace finish at the SRAA National Championships. Ryan moved to Maine the summer of 2014 and fell in love with all the midcoast has to offer. Passionate about growing the local rowing community, Ryan has coached previously at Megunticook Rowing and went on to Camden Hills Crew, winning medals in multiple junior events. He continues to row and compete in various master’s regattas in New England. Ryan resides in Belmont with his wife Saadiya and two kids.

ABBY CHAMBERLIN SUMMER COACH

Abby Chamberlin learned to row her junior year of high school with Megunticook Rowing. After graduating Camden Hills Regional High School, she went on to row at Dartmouth College for two years before taking a step back from the competitive side of the sport. Abby was a sailing instructor for many years at the Rockport Boat Club. Abby is very excited to get back out on Megunticook Lake. Abby graduated from Dartmouth College in 2021.


JACK HANSON

SUMMER COACH

Jack started rowing in 8th grade for Megunticook for Ry Hills as off-season training for basketball. After being introduced to the sport, he rowed at boarding school in Boston and at CRI in the summers, competing at the NEIRA championships and Canadian Henley. 

After high school, Jack was recruited to row at George Washington University in DC where he became a Dad-Vail Regatta National Champion and secured the university’s highest ever ranking of 7th at the IRA national championships.

Unfortunately, GW cut its rowing program after the 2021 season. Because of this, Jack transferred to the University of California, Berkeley to continue rowing. There he won a PAC-12 conference championship and became part of the 2022 IRA National Championship winning team.

SUMMER COACH

My name is Iselin Bratz, I am a 2022 high school graduate and have been rowing since my freshman year. I have been rowing on the women’s’ varsity team for my entire rowing career and have had the privilege to begin the “A” boat as well as go to extra regattas as a result. Rowing has done tremendous things for me not only in terms of my physical health but my mental health as well. I do it all year round and I am looking forward to showing just how amazing the sport of rowing is.


SALLY HARPER

SUMMER COACH

Sally has been coxing since 7th grade. She coxed for Niskayuna High School in Upstate New York where her biggest accomplishments were attending the Head of the Charles four times while placing 10th in 2019. After graduating high school, she attended Union College and joined the Division 3 rowing team. During the summer she is a sailing instructor at the Rockport Boat Club. Sally is excited to coach rowing and spend more time on the water!


ALLEY JOHNSON SUMMER COACH

Alley rowed with Megunticook Rowing for all four years of high school. After graduating from Camden Hills in 2021, she went on to row in the Varsity 1 Women’s 8 at Trinity College, where she placed sixth at the National Invitational Rowing Championship. Alley will be a sophomore at Trinity this fall and is looking forward to another season of rowing. She is excited to be coaching a sport she loves this summer, and to spend time on her favorite lake!
