summer learn to row level 1




New to rowing? Start by learning the basics in this class (4 day – 1 ½ hr class) taught by our coach and volunteers.  No rowing experience is necessary.  Students will learn he fundamentals of rowing, safety, boat types, equipment, boat launching, oar placement, the basic rowing stroke, boat handling, how to do a river turn, stopping the boat, boat balancing and rowing practice to improve your technique. This class will equip you with the rowing knowledge, safety information, and skills necessary to enroll in the on the water Learn to Row Level 2 Open Recreational Class.

The swim test is NOT require as the first class will include an on-the-water self rescue at the dock. Under the direction of the coach, you will roll out of the boat, and using the boat as your PFD, you will paddle your boat to the dock. You will get wet so bring a change of clothing!

Practices are 9:00 - 10:30 am, 4 classes, Weekend class are two weekends.


We require all rowers to have a USRowing waiver. Waivers are needed in order to compete in USRowing-hosted and -sanctioned events, as well as to be covered by insurance that comes with the membership. A Basic Membership to USRowing is required for this waiver.  The Basic Membership fee is $9.95.   If you are a new member to USRowing,  click “Individual.” Enter the Club Code  C6V3L If you are an existing member, click “Members.”  You will receive confirmation that your membership in USRowing is complete. You will receive a USRowing Membership Number, and the expiration date (one year from the start date)for your membership. Write these two numbers down as you will need them to complete your registration form and at checkout. Click
