We are very excited to announce that for the first time Megunticook Rowing will be hosting the 10th annual Maine Youth Rowing Association Regatta on May 25, 2019 on Chickawaukie Pond.
The Dirigo Sprint Championships, named in recognition of the State of Maine’s 1901 flag, marks the celebration of a full decade of Maine ’s youth rowing teams gathering together for spirited competition. Chickawaukie Pond, may prove to be one of the best venues in Maine for the 1500 meter sprint course, and ideal for spectators. Four teams will be competing for the Dirigo Sprint Championship Points Trophy: Waynflete School Crew, Yarmouth Rowing Club, Merrymeeting Community Rowing Association and Megunticook Rowing.
Young Maine rowers train diligently throughout the winter months and once mid-April ice-out arrives hit the water for racing throughout New England, culminating in this years Dirigo Sprint Championships. Megunticook Rowing regatta organizers wish every competitor a terrific day of competition - we aim to provide a buoyed-lane course, professional race timing services and nourishing options to fuel the competitors and spectators.
To comply with USRowing regulations, the races will be conducted as a dual/tri meet, each competitor is a basic and active member of USRowing [with waiver], and all teams are organizational members of USRowing.
